A Description of Real Estate in Boulder CO and Cities in the Surrounding Area The city of Boulder Colorado, which is located about a half an hour Northwest of Denver, and 45 minutes Southwest of Fort Collins, is an ideal place to make a home. Longmont Colorado is located around fifteen to twenty five minutes Northwest of Boulder via highway 119 (otherwise known as The Diagonal). Unlike other Boulder County cities that are really intertwined with the city of Boulder, most residents living in Longmont like to think of themselves as far more independent from Boulder. Longmont has shopping centers, major employers, a system of transportation, and has an old town and a new part of town. Longmont has amazing Victorian charmers, as well as stylish new home communities. For the most part, Longmont Colorado real estate prices are frequently 20 to 35 percent lower than prices in Boulder. Prices depend largely on which section of town homes are in. If you enjoy the idea of living in the city of Boulder Colorado, but aren't thrilled with house prices in Boulder, Louisville Colorado is as little as 10 or 15 minutes East of Boulder. There are 4 very easy routes providing access to Boulder from Louisville; Arapahoe Road, Baseline Road, South Boulder Road, and Highway 36. Along with quick access via automobile, Boulder County has an effective system of transportation, with several bus routes that go into town if you would rather not drive. Real estate in Louisville Colorado is on average 15 to 30% lower than Boulder house prices. Though the starting price for a Louisville condo or town home is about the same as Boulder's, you get more for your money. It's the same with single family houses. A Louisville starter home often sells for around $250,000, but rather than a 900 square foot home with no garage, you will probably get 1000 to 1200 square feet with a one to two car garage. Louisville isn't merely a bedroom community to Boulder either. In truth, many people who live in Boulder often make the trip to Louisville for the amenities the city offers, such as a movie house, shopping at Costco and Target, or one of the many enjoyable small town diners. Niwot Colorado is another city that is located close to Boulder. Although Niwot is expanding and seeing more semi-custom and custom housing developments, it is largely a bedroom community to Boulder. Niwot Colorado real estate is very limited, and the average price of a home varies widely. House prices are so nomadic essentially because at any time, there are just fifty to seventy homes that are on the market. With so few homes available, two to three sales on one side of the price scale can notably shift the average house price for that given month. (A lot of cities and towns have several hundred, if not several thousand homes available, and average prices are a lot more fixed than when there's just a couple of dozen houses that are on the market - such as with Niwot Colorado.) Overall, Niwot is a rather inviting smaller town that is as close to Boulder as possible without really living in a Boulder zip code. Only about fifteen to twenty minutes East of Boulder through Baseline Rd, South Boulder Rd, or Arapahoe Rd -- is Lafayette. The city of Lafayette is one of the fastest growing Boulder County communities, with the Indian Peaks Neighborhood being the largest part of that development. Lafayette CO homes tend to be as much as 35% lower than Boulder prices. In addition to getting a bigger house for the money in Lafayette, residents in Lafayette can enjoy the feeling of a small town with benefits including fine antique shops, family owned businesses, access to I-25, and of course, the Indian Peaks Golf Course - one of the most beautiful public courses in the area.
